The Safe Torque Off (STO) safety function to IEC 61800-5-2 is integrated as standard in the basic unit of inverters and decentralized drive units from the MOVI-C® modular automation system.
For all applications that require more than this safe stop function (STO), you can simply enhance the functional safety of SEW-EURODRIVE inverters using plug-in expansion cards. These MOVISAFE® CS..A safety options make it quick and easy to tailor the scope of these units' safety functions to the application's requirements.
From shutdown to safe standstill/stop, motion, or positioning (relative/absolute) – simply select the safety function you need for your application to instantly ensure the safety of your staff and machinery.

The MOVISAFE® CS..A safety options add the standard safety protocols PROFIsafe, Safety over EtherCAT®, and CIP SafetyTM to the MOVI-C® modular automation system for direct, safe communication between your units and a safety controller.
Are you intending to use a MOVI-C® CONTROLLER and a MOVI-C® FIELD CONTROLLER to control SEW-EURODRIVE axis modules? Not a problem!
All MOVI-C® CONTROLLERS route the PROFIsafe data to the safety options, thereby enabling your safety controller to communicate directly with the axis modules and the MOVISAFE® CS..A safety options. This removes the need for multiple safety programs and reduces system complexity.
Or are you not using a higher-level safety controller?
In this case, Safety over EtherCAT® is the right choice, with MOVI-C® CONTROLLERS linked to the axis modules via a Safety Control Unit (SCU) – all from a single source with components from SEW-EURODRIVE.

Our aim is to meet all functional safety requirements relating to machinery and applications that need a relatively large number of safe I/Os. For this purpose, MOVI-PLC® I/O modules include two Safety over EtherCAT® I/O modules, each with four safe inputs and outputs. Simply incorporate these into your application solution with an "SCU" safety controller. The modules incorporate external, functionally safe field units into the machinery and equipment structure and process their signals. This results in maximum flexibility when it comes to the design and architecture of applications.

MOVIDRIVE® and MOVITRAC® are the inverters used in control cabinet technology. These basic units have integrated stop and standstill safety functions. If these functions are insufficient for the application's requirements, the scalable MOVISAFE® CS..A safety functions enhance the inverters' functional safety. They take the form of plug-in expansion cards that can be retrofitted at any time.

In decentralized installations, too, SEW-EURODRIVE functional safety components offer total design flexibility – even in the case of challenging safety requirements relating to people and machinery. The safety function STO (Safe Torque Off, to IEC 61800-5-2) is integrated as standard up to PL e/SIL 3 in decentralized inverters and drive units.
