Excellent flexibility
for use in an explosive gas or dust atmosphere.
Maximum dynamic properties
across the entire speed range thanks to cutting-edge winding and magnet technology.
Custom drive solutions
even when space is tight, thanks to a high torque density in combination with our explosion-protected gear units.
Even in explosive atmospheres, you can rely on our servo drive technology! The new ECM3C.. series combines precision, dynamics, and power in a compact design.
In terms of safety requirements, the motors in the ECM3C.. series comply with equipment group II. They can be used in category 3 atmospheres, in gas zone 2 and dust zone 22.
Thanks to their safe design and further protective measures, the ECM3C.. series complies with the following rules and regulations, meaning they can be used in the maximum number of countries:
The compact, explosion-protected servomotors in the ECM3C.. series are available in sizes 63, 71, 80, and 100, with standstill torques ranging from 2.6 Nm to 33 Nm.
What's more, since explosion-protected motors are often only half the solution, our portfolio also includes the appropriate explosion-protected gear units. Our modular concept for explosion-protected drive solutions offers the ideal drive for any system that requires this kind of protection. Our portfolio includes helical-bevel servo gear units, planetary servo gear units, helical gear units, parallel-shaft helical gear units, helical-worm gear units, helical-bevel gear units, and W.. series SPIROPLAN® right-angle gear units.

When atmospheres with explosive air/gas or air/dust mixtures are involved, system operators need to comply with strict guidelines. These requirements act as our benchmark for the development of explosion-protected drive technology.
Our new ECM3C.. series meets the requirements of EU Directive 2014/34/EU (ATEX) and has been designed for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. Depending on the atmosphere in question – gas or dust – various protection types are available.
The motors belong to equipment group II and are suitable for category 3 applications, i.e. for gas zone 2 and dust zone 22. For countries where the IECEx system is recognized, motors are also available with IECEx certification for EPL c (Equipment Protection Level "c") applications.
The benefit for you: Future-proof, high-performance servo drive technology ensures safe use in explosive atmospheres.

The ECM3C.. motor type (Medium Inertia) benefits from higher intrinsic inertia, making it ideal for applications with high external loads. Combined with the optional BZ.. safety brake, with increased working capacity, this motor type is a safe, quick, and reliable drive solution for applications involving equipment such as agitators in potentially explosive atmospheres in the chemical industry.
The ECM3C.. series can be used in applications in potentially explosive atmospheres with air/gas or air/dust mixtures according to Directive 2014/34/EU (ATEX) and the IECEx standard.
